Roxanne and Jamie tied the knot in the heart of Bailgate, Lincoln and it was a pleasure to have made her wedding dress. Not one for chasing tradition, we designed a blush pink dress laced with an ivory bodice. The train was detailed with the same beaded applique to match the top of the dress and we also incorporated some of this lace into the bridesmaids’ belts, too.
We worked together to create her vision, and both loved the final design. There is a huge place in my heart for a big bow!
Not every bride chooses the traditional ivory dress and satin stilettos – Roxanne’s custom-made gown was teamed with diamante converse and ribbon laces. Roxanne and her bridesmaids each opted for a curly half-up hairstyle, complimented with flowers and sparkles to match their colour scheme of pink, grey and ivory. Their pretty roses were paired with pearl accessories. One of the bridesmaids had even added her own hand-painted design to her shoes and I loved this personal touch.
For any Lincolnshire bride, you would want to take full advantage of either the countryside or the city’s historic sites. Before taking fabulous photos before Lincoln Cathedral, the bridal party took a trip around the Bailgate in horse and cart. Greeted with Pimms on arrival and gorgeous afternoon sunshine – this was a beautiful summer wedding. Charlotte House Hotel boasts accommodation for those seeking to travel, and is surrounded by pubs and bars to continue the dancing further!
When it comes to choosing your colour scheme, don’t be afraid to be bold. Even incorporating pastels into your design can work beautifully, especially for a summer wedding! Shades can come up differently on a shimmery satin to how they would on a matte tulle so don’t be afraid to look at lots of samples to narrow down your choices.
Remember to be brave with colour!
